Title: Boats not allowed to compete in WYC Regatta 2019
Post by: Hermes on June 14, 2019, 08:19:10 AM
:o Is it an option that boats not eligible to compete in the Regatta 2019 could perhaps be able to compete for a lesser prize and thus encourage more participants in our depleted Seabird Fleet currently afloat. Perhaps others may have another viewpoint.  8)

Its a series race Pete they can sail for the points in the series in the regatta race  , just not the wakeham trophy.

Hate to break it to you but as it stands the rules are:

“THE R G PARIS CUP
Presented in 1946 by R G Paris. Shall be won by the “Seabird” class boat having the minimum number of points in a series of races, including the club regatta.”

“2.4 Eligibility to sail Seabird Half Rater Regatta
To be eligible to sail in the WYC Regatta a boat must have been afloat for two consecutive weeks prior to the date of the Regatta.”

I.E. The regatta is part of the RGP series not separate and the eligibility is to enter the race not eligibility to win the Wakeham trophy.

Andrew Read has called a sailing meeting for 25th June where hopefully the rule can either be scrapped or reworded.

I hate to break it to you Ian , but the 2 week rule was neither re worded , nor scrapped  but endorsed yet again by the majority of the boat owners at the meeting.
